  1. Great Photos! I love hiking in Santa Barbara-gorgeous city with a ton of good trails for all sorts of experience levels. Personal favorites I would have to say would be San Ysidro-challenging yet so much natural beauty that the pain is worth it. Watch out for poison oak on this one though, basically everywhere. Glad you enjoyed your time though, hard not to when you have views like that. I travel to SB a lot to go hiking and enjoy the cities natural beauty from a mountain up. My favorite place to stay is the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). Inexpensive and close to the trail heads;making it easy to do what I do best!

  2. Looks like you guys had a great day hiking in Santa Barbara. Hard not to when the views are that exceptional. I love being outdoors and hiking is one of the best exercises you could get. SB is a great place to do it too, lots of hikes and all levels to choose from. If you like hiking, try rock climbing or rock hopping (for starters!). Inspiration Point is great for this and there is even a cool waterfall at the end of it too! What a treat. This was always one of my favorite hikes to do in SB. Did it with my old college friends whenever we all came to town to have a reunion. Stayed at the South Coast Inn (www. goleta-hotel.com). Affordable and close to several things we all enjoyed doing together.

  3. Your pictures from your hike are great to look at but it just makes me miss Santa Barbara and hiking there all the time so much more! I went to UCSB and my friends would always go hiking on the Friday because we didn't have class and it was beach or hiking weather so why not do both in the same day??! Miss it so much, such a carefree life. Is this Cathedral Peak?? Looks like, with the overview of Goleta there! Goleta is a quaint little town that is totally under appreciated and over shadowed by Santa Barbara. Whenever I come to town to visit old friends that were able to stay in town, I always stay there, I'm just so much more comfortable there! The South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com) is the place to be. Elegant and comfortable!

  4. Hiking in Santa Barbara is one of my favorite things to do there. You made the right choice when doing that! Getting out in the great outdoors there is not only refreshing but a great exercise and a great way to hang out with the people who came with you! Swimming in Seven Falls, hiking to the top of Cold Springs and rock hopping at Rattlesnake is just what Santa Barbara is all about. Whenever I make little hiking trips with my girlfriend we love staying at the South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com). Close to great trails we enjoy doing and good places to eat for afterwards too!

  5. I have to agree with all the above comments, hiking in Santa Barbara is awesome so I am really glad I came across this blog! WIth everything there is to do in Santa Barbara, getting out and just walking, away from everyone is one of the best things you could do to really experience Santa Barbara. Of course on your select sunny days, everyone is out but you have to go to trails many don't tend to go to! Cold Springs for instance or ones outside of town. I've actually stayed at the South Coast Inn and it was a great experience, I intend to stay there again on my next trip!
